FAREWELL DAY

Imatge
This day has finally arrived😢 None of us wanted to come back because the experience we have had is unique, our host families have treated us very well and we have done a lot of activities with them and had a lot of good times. We woke up at 10 am and prepare our suitcases and backpacks, as at 11:45 am the bus was leaving for Helsinki. The Poles and Germans also came with us, but their flights were living before ours. We arrived at the airport at 14:15, and the first thing we did was to go for lunch. Afterwards we were buying the last souvenirs and playing cards, because our flight to Frankfurt was leaving at 18:35 pm. At 18:35 we flew to Frankfurt and arrived at about 20:10 pm (Spanish time). We quickly had to board the other flight to Valencia, which leaved at 21:20 pm.  Finally at around 23:40 pm we arrived at the airport, where our families were anxiously waiting for us and we ended this very special trip.

LASTS ACTIVITIES IN FINLAND

Imatge
On our last day in Finland, we woke up at 7.45 a.m. and we went to the culture hall to do a Kahoot. We almost won! Then, we did an orienteering game in groups and had to go to different places together. Here you have some photos. When the game was over, we went to the hall again and we made a summary of the week. After that, we ate at the school.  Then, Pekka Haavisto talked us about climate change, the environment and the ODS goals and we asked him some questions about his job at the Parliament. After having free time, we became chefs! We cooked several dishes and then we had an special dinner together. At the end, we were so sad because it was the last night here! Finally, we said goodbye to the teachers and our new friends… They were so nice with us!  So, we have to rest because tomorrow we’re leaving!

ARTS AND CRAFTS DAY

Imatge
Today we went to Parainen's church in the morning. It's a really special and beautiful church that began getting built in the Catholic period, but later on got reformed into a Lutheran one. After that, we put our consumption diaries in common, and we did an exercise related to the 17 SGDs from the UN. Then we had lunch at the school and afterwards, we did a craft activity which consisted in using our old t-shirts to make a lamp! It was really fun, but a bit complicated as well. Then we played some board games and we were good to go home. The thing is, we didn't go home. We decided to go to Turku again, on our own. We got on a bus from Parainen all the way over to Turku. There, we bought some things, had dinner, and to finish, we went to have a little dessert at a really nice restaurant on a boat! We were invited by some of the host parents, and we are very grateful for it.

AUTUMN IN HELSINKI

Imatge
This morning we woke up very early and we immediately got the bus, because we were going to Helsinki! It was a long voyage but we finally arrived to our destination: Haltia’s Nature School, where we learnt lots of things about Finland’s animal species and enjoyed a wonderful landscape.  Then, we had to get energy eating at one of Helsinki’s restaurants some typical Finnish dishes.  On the afternoon, we went to Suomerlinna, a beautiful fortress near the capital, and were told about its history. Did you know it is intangible heritage by the UNESCO? But the last place we visited was definitely the best one: Fazer’s chocolate factory. It has been the sweetest way to finish our long day. Everything was delicious! Our trip to Finland is being incredible!

A DAY IN TURKU!

Imatge
Today it was a rainy and cold day.  First, we woke up at 6.45 a.m. to get to the bus to Turku at 7.45 a.m. When we arrived to our destiny, we did some handicrafts with recycled materials in Taiteen Talo (The House of Art).  Then, we had a little free time and we decided to go to a shopping centre.  Later, we had lunch at a local school in the city. It was delicious! Finally, we visited the Visitor Centre Kahmari and the Topinoja Waste Treatment Centre...  Do you know what they explained to us? Exactly, we learnt about waste management and some environmental advice! They even showed us how they work with all that waste.  We really had a great time together!

Imatge
We have woken up at 3am to reach the airport at 4am, then we have met each other and started the trip. The 2 flights have been long but we have had each other to talk and we have sleeped a lot.  When we arrived to the airport of Helsinki we've met the Poland students and later the Germans. It has been great meeting them Then we've taken a bus to our Finish families.
